I am what one finds at the center of a Venn Diagram of Nerdiness, Musical Theater and A Complete Lack Of Shame. As a child, I threw myself bodily into community musical theater from age five to age eighteen, destroying any sense of personal modesty I may once have had. My charm, wit, and adaptability found me cast in a wide variety of supporting roles, like “Don Quixote’s Horse/Alto Prisoner #1” in Man of La Mancha, “Joy the Evil Stepsister” in Cinderella, and “Bottle Dancer #1/Background Male” in Fiddler on the Roof. (I also once played the judge’s bench in a variety show. I am nothing if not adaptable.) In high school I also discovered anime and science fiction convention costuming, and over the last thirteen years have spent several weekends each year wandering around semi-public venues in bizarre handmade costumes and uncomfortable footwear. I graduated from Miss Indigo Blue’s Academy of Burlesque in the Spring of 2011 and currently attend modern and ballet dance classes. I spend my evenings knitting, rhinestoning everything I can get my hands on, and watching Doctor Who.
